Over 20 years since it opened in 1998, the Malmaison is still arguably one of the most stylish hotels in Manchester.
The boutique hotel just a stone’s throw from Piccadilly Station has been delighting locals and visitors with its sexy, indulgent suites and refreshingly chic brasserie Chez Mal for more than two decades.
Now the Malmaison has a sibling hotel, right in the centre of Manchester.
Located on Process Street opposite Albert Square and Manchester Town Hall, Malmaison Deansgate boasts 70 guest rooms paying homage to retro 60s and 70s design, and the brand’s famous Malmaison Bar & Grill will serve food, alongside SORA, a rooftop bar with panoramic view.
Malmaison Deansgate design
The rooms’ pay homage to the retro design of the 60s and 70s, referencing the iconic G Plan furniture of this era, a benchmark for classic British design.
Each room talks to the exterior of the building design, complimenting the harsh, brutalist designs of the exterior with bold patterns, powerful colours, strong materiality and striking artwork.’
Albert Square explores many different themes that they were keen to translate into design, ‘from Art and Agriculture to Travel and The Natural World – these themes have been brought together with iconic Malmaison flair to create a hotel that is as bold, diverse and as brilliant as the city itself.’
SORA rooftop bar restaurant
The seventh floor rooftop introduces Manchester and guests to the ‘seductive world of Sora’; the hotel’s Pan-Asian Tapas & Cocktail Bar.
Mix and match small plates from an irresistible selection of sushi, Robatayaki and Pan-Asian style tapas dishes, and sip signature cocktails while taking in the panorama, overlooking Albert Square and Manchester Town Hall.
Paired with entertainment from resident DJs and guest musicians, it will be an easy going environment for romantic dates, relaxed dinners, or a quick drink before heading out on the town.
When will Malmaison Deansgate hotel open?
Manchester Malmaison Deansgate is now open.
It’s been a record few years for hotel construction in Manchester, with at least 1000 new bed spaces completed across the city.
And the hotel boom is showing no sign of abating, with the total number of city centre hotel rooms expected to pass the 10,000-mark soon.
We cannot wait to give the new rooftop bar a go. When it stops raining, obviously.
