A group of over 57 dedicated individuals is set to embark on a 19-mile charity walk from Stockport to Buxton this Saturday, 5th October, in memory of Lync.
Lync was a much-loved two-year-old boy whose short life left a lasting impact on all he met.
Walking for Lync
The walk, designed to be both physically challenging and emotionally uplifting, aims to raise vital funds for Once Upon a Smile, a Manchester-based children’s bereavement charity providing essential support to families dealing with loss.
The charity has been a lifeline for Lync’s family, especially his six-year-old brother Nate, who has received ongoing support over the past few months.
The picturesque yet rugged route reflects the determination of the participants, all walking with one shared goal – to honour the memory of “Lyncy-boy,” as he was fondly known.
The difficult walk, and challenge it presents, will mirror the resilience required to navigate the difficult journey of grief, and their efforts are a powerful tribute to a little boy who continues to inspire.
Lync’s parents, Lee and Genna Boshir
Lync’s parents, Lee and Genna Boshir, expressed their gratitude for the support their family has received from the charity: “Over the last couple of months, Lync’s brother Nate has been attending Once Upon a Smile, and thanks to their incredible support, we’re starting to see his confidence come back.
“This is something we will always be grateful for. In return, we wanted to give back to this amazing charity and do something special in honour of our Lyncy-boy.”
Once Upon a Smile
All funds raised will go towards Once Upon a Smile, an organisation that provides emotional and practical support to children and young people coping with the death of a loved one.
The charity’s specialised bereavement centre offers a safe and nurturing environment for children to express their emotions and find their way through difficult times.
Dan Jillings, co-founder of Once Upon a Smile, said: “We are deeply moved by Lee, Genna, and their family and friends for taking on this walk in memory of Lync. Their determination to raise awareness and funds for the charity is truly inspiring.”
