The Lowry Hotel, which has recently undergone a glamorous new makeover, has always been a top spot for special occasions.

Warm terracotta hues are now the order of the day in the dining area, with sleek geometric dividers between tables and chic metal detailing that nods to the area’s industrial past.

The bar, meanwhile, boasts a stunning grand piano and marble-topped bar alongside intimately low level seating.

Since taking over the helm from predecessor Andrew Green, head chef Dave Ashton has spent time building his new team up and designing a range of menus that take the River Restaurant experience to new culinary heights.

And now the five star hotel has launched a luxury Christmas afternoon tea offering, complete with chestnut macarons and a cranberry and clementine cupcake.

Plus, to top it all off, there’s even an edible snowman.

The festive sandwich offering includes a selection of elegant fillings: roast turkey and apricot stuffing, smoked salmon and watercress, Burford Brown egg and cucumber, and Provolone with sweet vine tomato chutney.

For those with a sweet tooth, seasonal delights include a chestnut and chocolate macaron, cranberry and clementine cupcake with pine frosting, and a spiced gingerbread cake with candied fruits.

But perhaps the most Instagram-worthy of all is an edible snowman, made from light crisp meringue, complete with a cute little red scarf.

The festive new menu is served in the newly refurbished River Restaurant, and includes the option to add champagne or gin and tonic for added festive cheer.

The festive afternoon tea menu is available daily at The Lowry Hotel and costs £24 per person for a traditional afternoon tea, or £33 with champagne or gin and tonic. It’s available 12pm – 4pm Monday to Friday, 12.30pm – 4pm on Saturdays, and between 3.15pm and 5pm on Sundays. To book a table call 0161 827 4046 or e-mail [email protected].
