Love Actually

You know it’s time to get excited for Christmas when the Love Actually screenings start being announced.

Populated by an A-list cast and directed by none other than Richard Curtis, who brought us charmers like Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones’s Diary, it’s a solid holiday favourite for a reason.

And now you can watch it in style with bottomless popcorn and drinks, courtesy of the Bottomless Cinema.

They’ll be holding the extra special boozy screening of the festive rom-com under the archways at The Viadux, just a few days before Christmas on 21st December.

Tickets cost just £15, with a £20 upgrade option for unlimited wine, beer or spirit (gin, vodka or rum) mixers throughout the two-and-a-half-hour screening.

For those who’ve never seen it (there’s always one), the film follows ten interwoven love stories during the five-week run-up to Christmas

Set against the backdrop of aged rock star Billy Mack’s Christmas-themed comeback cover of Love Is All Around, the movie follows the ups and downs of love in London during the holiday season.

And it doesn’t focus just romantic love, either. The heartwarming festive favourite touches on familial love, unrequited love, platonic love and even illicit, adulterous love in the case of poor Karen (Emma Thompson).

There’s heartbroken Jamie, who shuts himself away to write but gets distracted by a budding romance, and Karen, who is trying her best for her kids whilst suspecting her husband may have gone astray.

Daniel, meanwhile, is learning to cope after his wife’s death, whilst mischievous rogue Colin is busy filling his backpack with condoms in search of love (and fornication) in America.

The fun kicks off on 21st December with two screenings across the day. The first is a matinee at 12pm, followed by an evening showing at 7.30pm.
