The Italian delicatessen and restaurant Lina Stores has announced its first regional opening outside London.

And they’ve picked Manchester for their new location.

The new venture is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2025, marking a significant milestone as Lina Stores celebrates its 80th anniversary since the original shop was established on Soho’s Brewer Street.

The new shop will be located on Quay Street, and Lina Stores will occupy the ground floor of the newly refurbished Quoin building, directly opposite the Opera House.

This expansion brings an authentic slice of Italy to the city, blending traditional and contemporary influences across its restaurant, delicatessen, and adjacent bar.

The Manchester location promises an immersive Italian dining experience that spans from early morning to late at night.

With 150 covers, the restaurant will cater to all-day dining, offering everything from Italian-inspired breakfasts to freshly made pasta, hearty second, and indulgent desserts.

Meanwhile in the evening, Bar Lina will serve up Italian classics with a twist, making it the perfect spot for aperitivo hour or a late-night cocktail.

Head Chef Masha Rener expressed her enthusiasm for the expansion, saying, “We’re extremely excited to be opening in Manchester this spring.

“The city feels like a natural home for us considering the area’s rich history, vibrant culinary scene, and lively nightlife.

“We look forward to sharing our passion for great Italian food and produce with the Manchester community.”

Quay Street

Quay Street was chosen for its prime location, nestled between Manchester’s creative and business districts, making it a hub for both local residents and professionals.

“Quay Street is the perfect location for us,” Rener added, “sitting right in the trifecta of Spinningfields, St John Street, and St Peter’s Square.”

What’s on the menu?

The restaurant will start the day with a variety of sweet and savoury breakfast options, from Truffle Scrambled Eggs with Toasted Sourdough to Greek Yoghurt with Italian Macedonia Fruit Salad.

Breakfast panninis and traditional Italian espressos will also be on offer, providing a taste of Italy to kickstart the day.

Lunch and dinner menus promise to delight with a range of antipasti, including Ricotta & Herb Gnudi Fritti and Tuna Crudo with Capers. Lina Stores’ famous pasta dishes, such as the 30-Egg Yolk Tagliolini with Black Truffle and Pappardelle with Lamb Sausage Ragù, will feature prominently alongside new additions like Lemon Sole & Potato Ravioli.

For heartier appetites, dishes such as Luganega Fennel Sausage and Chicken Milanese will be available, rounding off with traditional Italian desserts, including Sicilian Cannolo and classic Tiramisù.

The open-plan delicatessen will cater to those seeking a quick snack or lunch on the go. Customers can choose from a variety of salads, such as Fusilli with Artichoke and Borlotti Bean with Kale, as well as freshly made panini.

Baked goods, including the Lemon & Limoncello Meringue Cake, will also be available, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Designed in collaboration with Behind Bars

Bar Lina, designed in collaboration with Behind Bars, will come alive in the evenings.

Embracing the Italian tradition of aperitivo, the bar will blend late 1960s to 1970s Italian design with Manchester’s eclectic energy.

The bar’s monochrome dark red palette, velvet banquettes, and chrome accents create a stylish yet relaxed setting.

Signature cocktails, such as the Bloody Martini and Basilico, will headline the drinks menu, making Bar Lina a destination in its own right.

The interiors of Lina Stores Manchester have been thoughtfully designed to reflect the brand’s rich history while integrating contemporary elements.

The space will feature the signature pastel green hues, warm timber woods, and terrazzo flooring that Lina Stores is known for. Bespoke marble tables, vintage Bentwood chairs, and opaline globe lighting will pay homage to the original Brewer Street delicatessen.
