Forsyths, Manchester city centre’s oldest music establishment, has announced the return of their highly anticipated ‘Learn to Play Day’ on the 7th and 8th of October 2023.

Learn to Play Day is a national initiative co-ordinated by the Music For All charity, of which you can find out more here

Celebrating its 10th year, this annual event invites music enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to discover the joy of making music with free instrumental lessons.

Unleash Your Inner Musician

Forsyths nestled on Deansgate with its historic 5-floor premises is set to transform its unique spaces into vibrant classrooms for aspiring musicians.

From the bustling window front to the storied piano workshops on the 3rd floor, every nook and cranny will resonate with the harmonious sounds of learning.

Emma Loat, Forsyth’s dedicated manager, expressed her excitement, saying, “Learn to Play Day is always such a joyful event.

“It’s such a pleasure to see people from all walks of life and a wide range of ages coming to have a go.

“It is a real reminder that music and music-making is for everyone – and you’re never too old to give it a go!

“Across the weekend, our incredible team of teachers and staff will be providing free 15-minute taster lessons in a variety of instruments.

“So far, we will be teaching: piano, violin, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, saxophone, flute, clarinet and more to come.

“Lessons are available for everyone – complete beginners of any age, to lapsed players who might want to start playing again. All instruments will be provided – however, you are welcome to bring your own instrument or indeed buy one!”
