There are over 40 million cars in the UK – and they are used, on average, just 4% of the time.

Through car sharing, these vehicles can be put to better use and help reduce the demand for new cars to be added to our streets.

Karshare is the UK’s first car sharing platform aimed solely at serving communities within their neighbourhoods

They connect renters with owners, giving those with cars the opportunity to earn extra income whenever their car is not in use – while those in need of a car can quickly and easily rent one from their local community.

It means car owners in Manchester can now earn up to £550 a month by renting their car out to vetted drivers nearby.

And to celebrate their initial launch in South Manchester, Karshare is offering £200 monthly guaranteed earnings for three months to the first 20 owners who join the scheme in postcodes M14, M19, M20, M21 and M33.

With Manchester setting its sights on becoming a zero carbon city by 2038, CO2 emissions need to be reduced by around 13% every year.

By making car sharing part of the local fabric in Manchester, Karshare hopes to create a world where vehicles are shared in the same way we share our parks and playgrounds.

The benefits of car sharing are threefold: it puts money in the pockets of people looking for extra income, contributes toward a reduction in carbon emissions, and instills a huge sense of community in its users.

Sharing resources with those we share a neighbourhood with is key in building the local infrastructures that are critical to both sustainability and our quality of life.

The money spent within a community is retained by the community.

Through its pioneering technology, Karshare is also able to make the entire renting process simple: if you sign up your car to be shared, you will never have to meet with renters to drop off your keys or retrieve your vehicle.

This is thanks to the secure KarshareGo technology, that acts as a virtual key and allows approved renters to book, locate and safely unlock cars using the Karshare App for a hassle-free, contactless rental.

Karshare also tracks every renter’s driving behaviour to ensure safe driving and records mileage and fuel levels so you don’t have to.

When your car has been onboarded to the Karshare platform, you will be asked to select the dates and times you want to make it available for each month, so you can earn easy money whenever your car is not in use.

For peace of mind at all times, Karshare’s insurance partner automatically provides fully comprehensive insurance during the entire rental period – without affecting your own insurance.

“To think of my car parked outside doing nothing seems ridiculous to me now,” says car owner Lisa Smith, who has made £930 so far.

“With Karshare, I know my Audi is safe, insurance is in place, there is tracking so I can locate my car if needed; I have complete peace of mind.”

Sign up your car today and take advantage of Karshare’s New Owner Offer: get £200 in monthly guaranteed earnings for your first three months. Make sure to mention ‘I Love MCR’ when speaking to the Karshare team to activate the offer – but hurry, Karshare’s guaranteed earnings only apply to the first 20 owners who sign up in M14, M19, M20, M21 and M33.
