Northern Quarter brunch favourite Home Sweet Home has announced that it will soon be closing its doors for good.
Famous for its breakfasts, pancake stacks, huge cakes and cheeseburger toasties, the Edge Street restaurant has been trading for a decade, and underwent a revamp earlier this year.
Home Sweet Home’s Great Northern restaurant closed in 2019 – but the company has said on Twitter that it is “moving forward with exciting new projects”.
“After 10 years of milkshakes, cheeseburger toasties, a million breakfasts and a whole bunch of happy tummies, sadly guys it’s time for us to go,” said bosses.
“I know it sucks right, your go to place for family and friends and a warm glow will be no more.
“Home Sweet will close its doors forever after service on Saturday, July 23.
“We’re moving forward with exciting new projects and sadly Home Sweet just has to float away into the chocolate river.
“It’s been the most wonderful of times and we will miss soothing your hangovers and satisfying your cravings.
“Drop in, say goodbye and get your final fix.
“Goodbye sugar babies.”
Fans were quick to take to social media to share their memories.
“The cheeseburger toastie will have a place in my heart forever,” said @drunkenbutcher, about one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.
“We love ya home sweet. Always one of the best breakfast places in town,” said @thisisgorilla.
“I’ll never forget the pulled pork pile up and sweet potato fries,” said @AndrewAllsop.
And @Jonzeywriter said: “So sad! I spent every birthday and celebration there (pandemic aside) since you opened.
“My daughter loved it too and your staff were always so lovely and patient with her when she couldn’t decide what cake to choose.”

“Such a sad affair!” replied @BecomingaWoman.
“Home Sweet Home was such a fixture of Manchester.
“I have had first dates with you, last dates, reunions with friends and family. I am a long way from home now but the memories will remain.”
“Winner Winner Chicken Dinner was always my go-to meal. Was always a good cure for a hangover,” said @joy_disconnect.
The restaurant replied to responses saying: “Thanks SO much for all the love – we’re overwhelmed and feeling all warm and gooey inside.
“Keep sharing the memories with us and let’s make our last 2 weeks magical and full of love and brunch and fried chicky and good times.”
Home Sweet Home NQ will close after service on Saturday 23rd July 2022.
