For anyone who loves a designer handbag, here’s some exciting news.

Selfridges at the intu Trafford Centre has unveiled the first phase of its vast new Accessories Hall and it’s bursting with blingy handbags from Chloe, Balenciaga, Gucci, Givenchy, Alexander MQueen, Christian Louboutin and more.

The new space on the ground floor has a colourful and contemporary design, and includes the opening of new Gucci and Prada boutiques which headline the designer offer within the new hall.

There are also new spaces and displays for a full brand edit which includes Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bao Bao, Boyy, Chloe, Christian Louboutin, Elena, Ghisellini, Fendi, Givenchy, Heron Preston, Loewe, Mansur Gavriel, MCM, Moschino, Mulberry, Off White, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Valentino.

It’s all part of a multi-million pound revamp of the department store which last year saw the unveiling of a state-of-the-art new beauty department at the main entrance to the ground floor inside the shopping mall – the biggest outside of London.

The Accessories Hall will increase in size by another 30 per cent in the months ahead for a full launch scheduled for September.

It will also include luggage, jewellery and hair accessories, as well as a number of new services including a new San Carlo champagne bar, as we revealed last week.

The new San Carlo bar, which is due to open in store in July, will serve more than ten choices of champagne and prosecco served by the glass or bottle, alongside a menu of charcuterie and shellfish plates.

A sculptural ‘cloud’ chandelier that floats over the gleaming marble bar will take centre stage.

Selfridges bosses say an events programme will also be announced in the second half of the year, giving Selfridges shoppers dedicated and personalised brand experiences.
