Smash your New Year’s resolutions this year with a little help from the Great Northern

We’re well on our way through January, and it seems like some of us might be slacking with our new year’s resolutions. So we’ve decided to help you stay on track with your goals (and get some discounts while you’re at it).

And with the amount they’ve got to offer, you don’t have to venture far because the Great Northern, the phenomenal Grade II listed building on Deansgate, is home to 35 different businesses, from cocktail bars to interior designers, making it the perfect place to start off the 2020 bucket list.

For anyone wanting to push off the pounds in the new year, the Great Northern is the place to be. Ditch the January blues by joining The Gym, which is now offering a 50% discount.

With over 170 pieces of high-tech gym equipment, and over 20 free exercise classes, there’s not a lot The Gym doesn’t have. So whether you’re trying to shed some pounds or bulk up some muscle, you’re guaranteed success here, without having to worry about any contract nonsense.

Using the code “HALFPRICE”, you can slice your membership fee in half, so you don’t have to be counting pennies as well as calories.

If you fancy something a little less physically demanding, you can find some inner peace at The Life Centre, which offers lots of yoga classes every day of the week.

Beat the January blues at the Stress Resilience class, or if you have a little more rage to get rid of, dip your toe in at the deep end with a Hot 60 session to really break a sweat.

For anyone looking for something more long term, The Life Centre is currently offering a six week Vinyasa Flow course, which focuses on calming posture and relaxing breathing.

Often likened to a modern day Indian yoga, the Vinyasa Flow course is for beginners, so you can get your stretch on without feeling embarrassed that you can’t get your legs behind your head.

If, like us, your resolution list COMPLETELY ruled out any form of exercise, why not use the start of a new year to take your taste buds on a trip and experience some new food.

Treat yourself to some extremely fine food at James Martin Manchester, where guests who purchase the tasting menu are gifted with free matching wine.

The menu consists of five delectable courses with five perfectly paired wines, for just £30 per person. And the best part is that the offer runs all the way throughout January and February, Monday to Friday.

Renowned Burger joint Almost Famous is kicking the decade off with 50% off burgers Monday to Thursday, for the whole of January. We repeat: 50% off, for the whole of January. Whether you opt for the classic, the double cheese, or the wondrous ’This is Manchester’ burger, you know you’re in for a meaty treat.

If your resolution was to save money, don’t fret because Impossible Bar and Kitchen has 40% off all food for the entire month of January, so you can still treat yourself to a meal out without breaking the piggy.

Test your taste buds with their signature chicken and waffles served with tabasco syrup and homemade slaw for the perfect sweet and spicy combo, created in partnership with Vietnamese street food legends South Manny Flavas.

Combining fun activities and good food at the Great Northern is All Star Lanes, who are offering guests a game of bowling, a two-course meal and a glass of prosecco (or beer) for just £25 per person.

This is the perfect opportunity to test out your bowling skills on the lanes, and taste their tasty kitchen menu. Don’t worry vegans of Manchester, they’ve got you covered too. As well as swapping meat for veggies, you can also swap bowling for karaoke at no extra charge if singing is more your thing.

And finally, rather than revamping yourself, you might want to refurbish your home instead, especially when you hear about the offers going on at the Great Northern throughout this month.

Throughout January, home and living store The Futon Company are offering 50% off in their Everything We Do sale, so whether you’re picking up foldable bamboo wardrobes or crackle glazed teapots, you can furnish your home at half the price. Get down to the store on Deansgate and fill your boots.

And what’s the most important room in the house? No, not the kitchen. It’s the bathroom, of course. There’s nothing better than a nice long bath after a hard day, so why not make that moment even better by treating yourself to a new one?

C.P Hart Bathrooms are offering you the bathroom of your dreams for half the price this month in their January sale.

Basins, baths, showers and toilets are all 50% off at their showroom on Deansgate, so you’re guaranteed to find something to fall in love with.
