German Doner Kebab (GDK), a fast-food retailer that has created a healthy and nutritionally balanced approach to traditional kebabs, is opening its first restaurant in Greater Manchester soon.
The new restaurant is due to open to the public for takeaway and collection in early March 2021, on Stockport Retail Park.
They’ve also applied for a late-night license to open until 3am.
Healthier than your average kebab option, the menu includes lean beef and chicken fillets imported directly from Germany alongside fresh, locally produced vegetables that are delivered and prepared daily.
They also use handmade Doner Kebab breads, “secret sauces”, and a unique blend of traditional spices.
The result, they say, is a nutritionally sound food experience – authentic kebabs that contain virtually no preservatives or additives and can be consumed day or night.
Signature dishes include Doner Quesadillas, Doner Nachos and Dorito Krunch Burgers as well as more traditional wraps.
There’s also a ‘Doner Gym Box’, which contains 44g of protein, alongside several vegetarian options.
GDK’S first store opened in Berlin in 1989, and there are now more than 50 stores in Europe and the Middle East, with plans for several more UK restaurant openings in 2021.
Situated in the former Carphone Warehouse unit on the retail park on Great Portwood Street, GDK will host 66 covers and create 25 new jobs, from management to serving staff.
“We are delighted to be bringing German Doner Kebab to Stockport,” said operations manager Kamal Khan.
“We’ve been looking for the perfect site in Greater Manchester for a while, and the unit on Stockport Retail Park is a great fit for us.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming new customers for takeaway and collection initially, and for a sit-down meal when restrictions permit.
“We hope German Doner Kebab will offer families and groups of friends something new and different – delicious, fresh, healthy kebabs, with something on the menu for everyone to enjoy.”
The kebabs will be available for delivery via Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat from early March 2021.
