Two brothers are opening an Oasis-inspired bar in Bolton this weekend.
Brothers Mark and Paul Gallagher, 36 and 40, hail from Breightmet in Bolton and are both huge Oasis fans – so they decided to call it Definitely Maybe, in homage to the band’s 1994 debut album.
Mark previously had a bar in Portugal by the same name and, after some discussion between themselves, the brothers settled on using it again for their new venture here.
The venue they are taking over was first known as Bergerac’s, but over the years has operated under many different guises including Indian restaurant Mayas, Carbon and Lincoln’s American Bar and Grill.
Tucked underground, it’s located in an easily overlooked part of the town. The pair have completely redesigned the space, working day and night to bring their vision to life.
Inside exposed brick archways, copper piping and wooden furniture give it a laid back industrial feel whilst plush pink velvet chairs and mood lighting add a more sultry feel. A bookcase filled with titles runs the length of one wall.
The nods to their Britpop icons, meanwhile, are subtle, with mirrors and bar mats emblazoned with ‘Definitely Maybe’ appearing throughout.
On the drinks front, expect classic cocktails like the espresso martini alongside plenty of beer and cider choices.
Draughts on tap include Fosters, Heineken, Birra Moretti, Strongbow, Old Mout (Berries and Cherries), Lagunitas IPA and Guinness.
The brothers plan to host live acts with an indie vibe, befitting the bar’s theme, as well as screening plenty of football matches.
You can’t get more Manchester than that, really.
Definitely Maybe opens this Friday 20th at 4pm. Find it down a flight of stairs just off Bradshawgate.
