Award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash has delivered the first modular town houses to its site at Irwell Riverside close to Manchester city centre.

The town houses, which were launched for sale last year, are customisable and available in two or three storeys.

Urban Splash has been preparing the site for the arrival of the modular homes, which have been constructed in a factory in the East Midlands.

Now the first houses occupying waterside positions with views of the River Irwell have been put in place.

There will be 72 homes designed to buyers’ own specifications.  A simple design tool on the website allows them to customise their home in five easy steps.  Customers select a base model then configure their home as they wish, selecting their preference for layout, floor finishes, additional rooms and a range of other options.

Homes come as either 1,000 sq ft spread over two floors or 1,500 sq ft over three floors, meaning the development is likely to attract a varied demographic, although families looking for more space are a key target market.

“House – especially the town house product – was our solution for buyers looking for extra space without forfeiting city living for the suburbs,” said Urban Splash residential director Guy Ackernley.

“This is a huge milestone for us at Irwell Riverside. This site’s in such a great location, close to the city with Victoria Station and Harvey Nichols just minutes away – I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to offer family housing in such an urban setting and that they’re now on site for customers to move into in the near future.”

All town houses at Irwell Riverside come with parking and a garden and prices start at £270,000.
