The much loved cast of characters are headed for the Hotel Brooklyn in Manchester for a disaster-class in hotel management.
Punters will be treated to an immersive show, with dinner included, in what promises to be a spectacular night out on the town.
And anything can happen. The script is loosely based around the hi-jinx of Connie Booth and John Cleese’s show – but 70% of what happens on the night is improvised.
The fun starts as soon as the guests are waiting to be seated – for a two hour tour de force of gags and shambolic service while punters are served a 70s style three course meal. With a side helping of mayhem.
The show is a loving tribute to the BBC’s classic TV series, which has proliferated into a success story of its own.
The immersive experience has been seen worldwide by over a million people worldwide since the very first show at the Ridges Hotel in Brisbane on 24 April 1997.
Suzanna Hughes will be playing Sybil, Hayden Wood is taking on the role of Basil and Leigh Kelly will be performing as Manuel.
Devised by Alison Pollard-Mansergh, Andrew Foreman and others, the show has been touring the UK and internationally since 2008, having appeared in 41 countries.
The show has toured to over 1000 venues, with approximately 400 shows per year on average across the UK, and has just celebrated its tenth year in London, cementing its status as London’s longest running immersive experience.
Producer Jared Harford said, “We’re thrilled beyond belief to be bringing the fun and chaos of our show to Manchester, and we have a great partner in the team from Hotel Brooklyn.
“We know people still want to go out and enjoy themselves, while being conscious of rising costs – which is why an immersive show including dinner really is the best option for anyone looking for a spectacular night out in the centre of town!”
In a sharp difference to the original Fawlty Towers, this immersive experience will take place at the suave Hotel Brooklyn, a defiant homage to the gilded age of New York City and the promise of the New World.
Paul Bayliss MBE MI FIH, Regional General Manager at Hotel Brooklyn said, “This show is lots of fun and I’m sure it’ll bring plenty of laughs to the diners and of course it’s a great name for the event as every hotel and restaurant gets accused of being Fawlty Towers, so here’s the proof!”
The show will play at the Hotel Brooklyn, 59 Portland Street, M1 3HP with performances from 24 February – 12 March 2023.
