If you’re looking for enlightenment, Piccadilly Gardens will be the place to be between 4.30-8.00 pm on Thursday 11th until Saturday 13th December.
Piccadilly Gardens isn’t the prettiest part of Manchester city centre but for four days next week it will be illuminated by a number of installations by local, national and international artists.
Enlighten Manchester is a pilot Festival of Light Art which will introduce a little artistic flair to the city centre at the darkest time of year. Brought to you by Curated Place, the arts-led production company behind the Hacienda 25 exhibition and FutureEverything, the annual digital arts festival, Enlighten Manchester will bring together Nordic artists and home-grown talent and will prepare the ground for a major festival next year to mark the UNESCO International Year of Light.
Festivals of light art are a feature of many major European cities including Amsterdam, Prague and Berlin, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
