If you want an authentic, old-fshioned and critically-acclaimed British pub experience look no further than this Manchester classic. Not many a place as cosy and festive to go this Christmas.
I had my works’ Xmas do there a couple of years ago and it was outstanding. I’ve been dipping in and out ever since.
The creaking wooden stairs into the bar and leather booths set the tone for a cosy, relaxed, warm atmosphere, enhanced by friendly and attentive staff that obviously love working there.
The food is superb too. Everything is made fresh to order. I’ve had the good fortune to sample many of their classic dishes. I recommend Corned Beef Hash Cake for a starter, Black Pudding or Smoked Salmon. For mains I’d choose the Roast Beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding, and all the trimmings. Other mains I’d point are Homemade Steak & Kidney Pudding, Beef Wellington, Slow-roast Pork Belly, Steak, Bangers & Mash and Barnsley Chop which are all cooked and served to perfection.
Make sure you wash it all down with their own brew; Sam’s Special. Or at least have a sample of it before you leave.
