Breakout

Breakout is hosting their annual charity day this Wednesday 13th March.

They’ve teamed up with Manchester Pride, The Christie, When You Wish Upon A Star, Early Break and Manchester City Mission in a bid to help raise funds for some of the most vulnerable in our society – including Manchester’s homeless, terminally-ill children, and cancer patients.

“The causes we’re working with cover a range of issues which are close to our hearts here at Breakout, and we’re really hoping that the day will be a massive success,” says Breakout spokesperson Hannah.

It goes without saying that every single charity on the list does fantastic work in our communities – and deserve all the help they can get.

Each has sponsored a room at Breakout’s original Town Hall location, which is closing its doors for good in May.

The money taken from the High Street site will be split evenly between the five causes, while the Town Hall money will go from each game to its respective sponsor.

So, if one particular cause is especially close to your heart, keep reading to know which to book in for.

Madchester (sponsored by The Christie)

Gather together as many Manchester collectibles as you can – the heat is on.

Based in Withington, South Manchester, The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in the UK and treats 44,000 patients every year. Providing enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds for the hospital and patients, it is one of the most highly regarded treatment centres in the UK.

The Detective Office (sponsored by Manchester Pride)

Have your own Rain Man moment at Breakout this Wednesday.

As well as throwing awesome parties that celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life, the charity campaigns for equality, challenges discrimination and strives to create opportunities for engagement and participation within our communities across Greater Manchester.

Infiltrate (sponsored by When You Wish Upon A Star)

Get your Prison Break on – before the warden comes back from his lunch break.

When You Wish Upon A Star makes dreams into reality for children living with life-threatening illnesses. Since 1990 they have proudly granted over 17,500 wishes across the UK.

Sabotage (sponsored by Manchester City Mission)

With 60 minutes to launch, it’s on you to stop a world-ending missile strike.

As well as running Narrowgate homeless shelter throughout the year, Manchester City Mission do a wealth of good in our local communities: visiting older people in their homes to combat loneliness, printing positive newspapers and providing communities with prayer groups.

Virus (sponsored by Early Break)

You knew this day would come. The zombie apocalypse is here – and the fate of the world is in your hands.

Focused on helping vulnerable young people and providing them with emotional support in the form of one-to-one counselling, Early Break specialise in holistic therapy, mindfulness, bereavement and loss counselling, anti-bullying and emotional wellbeing support.
