Bongo's Bingo

The ultimate Manc party night, Bongo’s Bingo is part live event, part party and part heads-down game of bingo, with dance-offs, rave intervals, plenty of heckling, audience participation and countless hands-in-the-air anthems.

And now, it’s getting even bigger – but tickets are currently only available for Thursday 28th March, so you’ll need to be quick to snap them up.

Bongo’s Bingo XL is a brand-new concept for 2019 coming to Manchester Central later this month, featuring confetti cannons, streamers, on stage spark showers and three LED screens, along with amped-up sound and lighting.

It could be 80s and 90s power ballads one minute, then S Club the next, then Guns and Roses. Or then maybe a bit of N Trance. It’s all Bongo’s Bingo.

And there are some special celebrity guests, too.

Making their Bongo’s Bingo debut at the three back-to-back XL shows are Simon Webbe and Lee Ryan from Blue, one of the UK’s most successful boy bands ever.

Launching to critical acclaim and fame in 2001, Blue have sold over 16 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide.

With two Brit Awards to their name, they have collaborated with the likes of Sir Elton JohnStevie Wonder and Lionel Richie. They’ve appeared on television shows and stages across the world – and now the boys are bringing their magic live to Bongo’s Bingo XL.

“We can’t wait to be there!” says Lee about Bongo’s Bingo XL at Manchester Central.

Do the band have any previous experience of bingo?

“Not really, so this will be a new experience for us,” says Lee.

“Although Simon did used to work as a bingo caller before we started the band, but that was decades ago!” he laughs.

“Simon and I have been close friends since before Blue began, so this is an extension of the good times we always have on the road.”

The last time the boys played in Manchester with Blue was April 2015 on their Colours of Blue tour, and they’re looking forward to coming back to the city.

“That was such a great tour, and Manchester was definitely a highlight,” says Lee.

“People know how to have fun in Manchester, and that’s the part I am looking forward to the most.”

Bongo’s Bingo XL launches in Manchester next weekend. Friday and Saturday’s shows have sold out, with tickets only left for Thursday 28th March.
