It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year. The days are getting shorter and the chilly weather’s here.

Sounds like the perfect time to celebrate the most quintessential of British treats –  afternoon tea.

Luckily for you, luxury boutique hotel Great John Street have got an unmissable offer on. But you’d better be quick because it’s only on until the end of October.

Nibble on neatly cut sandwiches, delicate cakes and fruity scones slathered in fresh cream washed down with a pot of freshly brewed tea or a glass of prosecco.

An array of irresistible savoury items is served with the piece de resistance – a three tier stand featuring light, crusty scones and rich clotted cream, accompanied by a variety of homemade cakes and pastries.

The autumn special traditional afternoon tea includes a selection of delectable finger sandwiches such as smoked salmon and cream cheese, roast beef and tomato, cheese and pickle, egg mayonnaise and cress finger sandwiches and a mini chicken salad wraps.

And there’s more – banoffee macarons, carrot, apricot and honey cake, blackberry and ginger nut mousse, pear bakewell tart and fruit scones, all of which are displayed lovingly on a cake stand with decorative fruits and leaves. It is autumn after all.

It usually costs £24.50 per person, but it’s available now for just £30 for two people until the end of the month. Sounds great value to us.

The afternoon tea is served in Great John Street’s downstairs Oyster Bar, Library or subject to availability, up on the rooftop playground (which you need to request at booking).

Wherever you decide to sit, you’ll be able to warm your cockles and get give your sweet tooth a hit. After all they say that tea cures all ills but, failing that, you can always upgrade to a fizz package for an additional £8.50.

The combination of old and new decor, crushed velvet couches and subtle lighting makes it an ultra cosy place to relax and enjoy your afternoon treat.

A stone’s throw from the city centre and theatres, this chic hotel is the perfect destination for an afternoon date, gossip with your friends or just somewhere to escape the dreary Manchester weather.

This offer ends 31st October and is available Sunday – Friday. Bookings only.
