Aussie comedian is coming back to Manchester for the usual punishment

This is Manchester. We do things differently here.

When Australian comedian Jim Jefferies was performing at The Comedy Store ten years ago, a member of the audience got on stage and punched him.

Ironically, the video went viral and helped launch his career.

He’s gone on to become one of the most popular and respected comedians of his generation, appearing on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You, and 8 out of 10 Cats, and he’s back in Manchester next month.

It’s one of two extra dates which have been announced for his Unusual Punishment Tour, which follows a sold-out British tour last summer and received critical acclaim when it toured the US last year.

He’s become known for entertaining audiences across the globe with his controversial, belief-challenging, and thought-provoking comedy.

He’s become rather popular in the US too.

Last summer marked the release of his fifth major stand-up special in seven years, Freedumb. The special is Jim’s second to air on Netflix and follows the huge success of Jim Jefferies: BARE, in which he delivered a now iconic routine on gun control in the US.

He fronts his very own series, The Jim Jefferies Show, which premiered on Comedy Central this summer. The weekly series features Jim travelling across the globe to tackle the week’s top stories and the controversial issues of the day.

Jim created, wrote, produced, and starred in the critically acclaimed FX series, Legit, which ran for two seasons and gained a cult following.

He is a regular guest on the late night circuit and has garnered success in the movie world, most recently appearing in Killing Hasselhoff and Punching Henry.

By the way, it turned out the person who attacked him on stage at The Comedy Store was from Lytham St Annes. That explains everything.

Jim is appearing at the Manchester O2 Apollo on 25th January 2018. Get your tickets here.  But please don’t punch him.
