Atlas Bar is the go-to venue for gin-loving Mancunians who want to broaden their horizons and sample the very best that independent distilleries and brands from around the world have to offer.
Located under Deansgate’s railway arches, Atlas Bar has become somewhat of an iconic city centre gin joint. And with over 420 different gins on offer, it has by far the largest gintastic offering in the whole of Manchester city centre.
The bar aims to introduce a new gin to the menu each and every week – and with their gin selection growing all the time, there are plenty of gins on the back bar that you won’t find in your local supermarket.
Now the venue, which won Best Spirits Bar North West at the Great British Pub Awards, is hosting a monthly gin supper club on the last Tuesday of every month, with head chef Ross Parker (formerly of Arbutus and Harvey Nichols) creating a stunning three-course bespoke gin-themed dinner.
Each month, the venue handpicks a different distillery to feature and the menu is paired with three different gin and tonics and gin-based cocktails to complement the food.
The chosen distillery hosts each evening and offers a talk to supper club guests about the gin’s history, distilling process, botanical make-up and some great tales and funny stories.
All supper club guests are welcomed with a G&T on arrival to get the gin flowing and one lucky guest each month will walk away with a bottle of the chosen month’s gin. Where do we sign up?
The next gintastic event will take place on 30th April and will feature Scottish gin brand Daffy’s.
The single batch, copper pot distilled gin is balanced with nine carefully chosen botanicals including their signature Lebanese mint flavour creating a refreshing, smooth and original flavour.
Getting the evening warmed up with a Scots 75 cocktail (a twist on the classic French 75), enjoy broad bean falafel, Lebanese mint, lime sauce and wholesome hummus to start.
For the main course, sip on Daffy’s Southside while chowing down on Ras-El-Hanout marinated lamb flavoured with a North African medley of fragrant spices and Lebanese-inspired fattoush salad.
End the evening with a fragrant blood orange and apricot Breakfast Martini alongside a sickly sweet sticky toffee orange pudding with vanilla ice cream.
Whether you consider yourself a gin connoisseur or just fancy trying something new, Atlas Bar is a place where gin lovers can explore the world of the juniper berry-based spirit, meet the professionals and experience a great evening of amazing food and unique gins.
Following on from Daffy’s in April, the popular gin saloon will feature the Muff Liquor Company’s Irish potato craft gin on 28th May followed by Canadian microbrewery Long Table on 25th June.
Tickets for the supper club are on sale now costing £35 per person.
