Alma's Not Normal

Alma’s Not Normal is back in town, literally, and it’s bringing more laughs, tears, and Northern charm than you can shake a stick at.

Bolton’s own Sophie Willan has written another season that’s set to hit our screens with a bang on Monday, 7th October, and trust me, you’re not ready for the madness that’s about to unfold.

From talent agents with dubious credentials to witchcraft-obsessed mums, this is the hilarious chaos we’ve all been waiting for.

But what about those filming spots?

Let’s dive into the places you’ll want to check out when you’re not too busy cackling along with Alma and her Bolton crew.

Here’s your guide to the series two locations, so you can relive the magic in real life.Alma’s Not Normal filming locations

Manchester City Centre

Series one saw Alma take on the big city when she dabbled in sex work, donning her signature hot pink outfit.

She struts through the streets of Manchester, with scenes shot in and around Beetham Tower and the iconic skyline.

Whether she’s in a glitzy glass building or just getting into more scrapes, Manchester brings a contrast to Bolton’s gritty charm.

Leanne’s Bar – Steakout, Deane Road

Leanne’s Bar

You might want to grab a drink because Alma’s bestie, Leanne, is making waves with her new bar. But this isn’t your average swanky cocktail lounge. Nope, Leanne’s gone full-on creative and turned a lorry into Bolton’s hottest bar – yes, you read that right.

This back-of-the-truck watering hole is parked up at Steakout on Deane Road, next to, well, half a plane (because why not?).

Just on the way into Bolton town centre, it’s where the party’s at, even if the décor is, shall we say, unique.

Olympus Chippy – Great Moor Street

Bolton’s iconic chipshop has made it onto the big screen! In series two, Olympus Chippy is more than just a place for your post-pub munch.

Alma’s new agent operates from its back room, living off scraps while scheming his next big (or small) acting job for her.

In the backrooms of Olympus Fish & Chips

This iconic Bolton spot remains a local institution, but now you’ll be spotting it as Alma’s slightly dodgy HQ. Pop by for some chips and think about Alma’s misadventures while you wait!

Green Machine Bike Shop – Horwich

Alma’s trusty bike gets into a bit of trouble early on, and she heads out to Green Machine in Horwich for repairs.

What she walks out with is… let’s just say, not quite what she was expecting.

If you’re a cycling fan, this is the place for you. Even if you’re not, the shop plays a key role, so look out for it in the first few episodes.

Bolton Town Centre – Le Mans Crescent, Town Hall, and More

Earlier this year, Boltonians were claiming it’s the new Hollywood of the North – and for good reason. You’ll see plenty of shots of Bolton’s iconic town centre throughout Alma’s Not Normal.

From Le Mans Crescent (you might’ve seen it in Peaky Blinders) to Bolton Town Hall and the surrounding streets, this is where the show’s gritty Northern roots truly shine. The shots of factory buildings, roads, and the historic squares set the stage for Alma’s ongoing escapades.

Alma’s Not Normal series two starts at 10pm on Monday 7th October on BBC Two and iPlayer.

You can watch the first series on iPlayer here.
