We can’t treat our mums to a meal out this Mother’s Day – but that doesn’t mean we can’t spoil them with a slap-up Sunday lunch at home.
And what says special occasion more than a show-stopping Beef Wellington?
Comprising fillet steak coated with mushroom duxelles, wrapped in pastry then baked, it’s a jaw-dropping dish that’s hot property on social media right now.
But it’s time-consuming and fiddly, and not the easiest thing to make yourself from scratch.
So go to the experts, and let the chefs at award-winning restaurant The Cherry Tree at Blackrod do all the hard work for you.
They’ve created a Beef Wellington to share, where the tender beef has already been cooked in a water bath at 56 degrees for two hours, wrapped with wild mushroom duxelle and parma ham and lovingly wrapped in the butteriest puff pastry.
All you need to do at home is pop it in the oven and serve it. It couldn’t be simpler.
It comes with duck fat roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, English greens, root veg, Yorkshire pudding and beef gravy, too, so you don’t need to worry about sides.
And it’s part of a two or three course menu, so you can pick a starter and/or pudding to really make it a proper celebratory Mother’s Day feast.
Starters include cauliflower cheese soup with Lancashire cheese and onion scones or smoked salmon and shellfish vol-au-vent with champagne and garlic cream, while desserts include a mouthwatering strawberry Eton Mess cheesecake with marshmallows and meringue or melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding with raspberries and honeycomb.
It’s priced at £20 or £25pp for two or three courses, with a £5pp supplement for the Beef Wellington, and available for collection 12pm-3pm on Sunday 14th March.
There’s also a kids menu available, and it’s all packed ready chilled with simple instructions to finish at home.
Or maybe your mum would prefer a hamper full of luxurious goodies just for her?
If that’s the case, The Cherry Tree has just the thing.
Each elegant hamper contains white chocolate dipped shortbread biscuits, a box of six handmade chocolate truffles, homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream and a homemade fruit scone, as well as a sweet vanilla and prosecco cupcake.
And that’s not all, as she’ll also find a fruity cherry bakewell bath bomb and a cherry scented candle for the ultimate pampering session.
The hamper’s a bargain at just £20, and you can collect it on the day between 12pm-3pm.
Or if you’d rather treat your mum to a special meal in person once restrictions are lifted, then that’s an option, too.
For just £30 (instead of the usual £48), you can opt for a voucher to enjoy an incredible afternoon tea with pink prosecco once the restaurant is back open.
Guests can enjoy a lovely selection of teas or coffee served with delicate finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, and a sensational selection of seasonal cakes and pastries, accompanied with a glass of sparkling pink prosecco.
Whichever option you go for, it’s a perfect way to let your mum know how much you care.
