The government’s August Eat Out to Help Out initiative may be over – but luckily for diners, many Manchester restaurants are extending the great value dining deals for another month.
Among them are three of the region’s top Japanese restaurants: Samsi, Teppanyaki Chinatown and Wasabi Teppan-yaki.
All three restaurants are offering a whopping 50% off all food and non-alcoholic drinks up to £10 per person Monday to Wednesday through September.
Multi-award winning Japanese restaurant Samsi, well-loved in Manchester for its fine Japanese cuisine, is somewhat of a local institution and has been at its Whitworth Street home since 1993.
It’s a stylish and sleek space, with a semi-private, authentic sunken ‘seiza’ seating area adorned with blossoming cherry bonsais and folding wooden screens.
The menu offers a range of Japanese delights from an extensive fresh sushi selection and crisp chicken wings to yakitori skewers, plump gyoza dumplings, and hot favourites such as katsu curry or big, warming bowls of ramen.
Teppanyaki Chinatown, meanwhile, was the first teppanyaki restaurant to open in the UK outside London, and maintains a thrilling sense of theatre.
You’re seated at a large table surrounding an iron plate cooking surface, where the chef will prepare your dish using fresh ingredients such as meat, seafood, and vegetables, right before your eyes.
Whether you go for sirloin or lamb, duck breast or lobster, scallops or tofu, all the teppanyaki dishes are cooked in a delicious ‘Tokyo sauce’ made with teriyaki and Japanese butter.
You can also go for the teppanyaki experience over in Cheshire, at Wasabi Teppan-yaki – or if you prefer, there’s a full sushi and sashimi menu, too.
You can mix and match from the freshest salmon, seabass, squid, eel, tuna, mackerel and more – or go for a stunning platter so you can try it all.
Manbir Singh, who owns the three restaurants, says he fell in love with Manchester when he moved here over 10 years ago.
For him, extending the offer throughout September is not only to look after his staff and businesses, but it’s also a thank you to all the restaurant guests that have supported him over the difficult past few months.
“I love Manchester as a city, the people are so friendly and nice,” he says.
“On top of that, it has given me a lot. I love meeting different people and serving them the best food and service, it’s my kind of passion.”
And if you want to try the best Japanese food in the area yourself, there’s no better time than now, thanks to this incredible value offer.
