Vertigo’s First Street restaurant was recently included in the UK’s top 20 vegan and vegetarian restaurants according to The Times.
And now, the plant based eatery is opening its doors once again, with some new summery dishes which can be eaten inside or outdoors on the terrace.
Three special summer menus have been created for brunch, afternoon tea and dinner, with some Vertigo classics as well as new additions.
For brunch, you can get a small plate, a larger plate and a fresh juice, smoothie or hot drink for £20.
Smaller plates include a Lotus pancake stack, a breakfast berry smoothie bowl, or fluffy hoi sin seiten bao buns with spring onion and sesame, while larger plates include the full Vertigo breakfast (Beyond sausage, flat mushroom, scrambled tofu, confit tomato, beans and hash browns) or tofu rancheros (toasted tortilla, pulled jackfruit, cheeze sauce, guacamole, pico di gaio, chilli and beans).
Hot drinks include a selection of loose leaf teas and local ManCoCo roasted coffees.
Afternoon tea, at £20 per person, starts with a selection of savouries: cucumber and cream cheeze finger sandwiches, cheddar and pickle finger sandwiches, tofu mayo crostini, and a mini ‘Reuben’ with a homemade bagel, peppered tempeh and saurkraut.
The sweet treats include a rhubarb and custard ‘trifle’, black cherry brownie, salted caramel cheezecake and a fragrant strawberry and elderflower tart, as well as homemade berry scones with homemade jam.
You can add on a natural prosecco for £6.
The dinner menu is also priced at £20 for three courses, with starters such as satay skewers with satay sauce and sambal, and Persian roasted cauliflower, with pistachio, sumac and pomegranate.
Mains include a hearty mushroom bourguignon pie with mashed potato, gravy and cabbage and a 1/4lb cheezeburger with fries, as well as our personal favourite – their much-loved peanut butter dhaal.
For pudding, there’s zesty lemon cheesecake or a warm apple and plum tart with vanilla ice cream.
Numbers are limited, but diners can now book online now and will get a 1 hour 45 minute table allocation – or two hours for dinner.
Meanwhile, the Cross Street branch is open for takeaway and delivery, while a new MediaCityUK branch will open soon.
Vertigo First Street will open on Friday 17th July.
