This summer, Mancunians are encouraged to get on their bikes for charity with the annual Manchester to Blackpool and Manchester 100 charity cycle rides.
Taking place on Sunday 7th July, The Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride is The Christie charity’s largest cycling event, attended by over 4,000 cyclists each year.
The route covers 60 miles from MediaCityUK, with lots of refreshment stops along the scenic country lanes of Lancashire.
The ride finishes on the South Promenade in Blackpool where you can enjoy a barbecue, live music and a massage. Plus, of course, a well-earned drink in the beer tent.
Then on Sunday 1st September, the Manchester 100 bike ride starts from Wythenshawe Park, and you can decide whether you want to cover 100km or 100 miles.
The 100km route will take you through beautiful country lanes that sweep through the stunning Cheshire landscape.
The 100 mile route heads first to Northwich, taking in Delamere Forest and Nantwich (the half way point) for lunch before heading back through Middlewich to the finish line.
The money raised via sponsorship helps to provide inspiration and hope to cancer patients and their families, as well as helping to carry out more research, give more people the very best treatment and care – and save even more lives.
As a member of Team Christie, cyclists will receive a welcome pack, a free Christie t-shirt, and fundraising support and advice leading up to the race.
Any fundraiser who raises over £200 before Sunday 25th August will also receive a free Team Christie cycling jersey.
Entry costs around £20 and cyclists must be over 14 years of age. For further information, contact John Lister on 01179 897080 or [email protected].
