Some of Manchester’s finest musicians have given permission for their lyrics to be used in a video to recruit nurses to work in Greater Manchester.
Unsung features nurses from across Greater Manchester speaking lyrics from songs written by music legends The Stone Roses, New Order, Oasis, Elbow and many more.
The video encourages people to consider training to become a nurse, ex-nurses to come back and experienced nurses to come and work in Greater Manchester, which currently has a shortfall of over 2,000 nurses.
“This video is brilliant,” said Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester. “It celebrates two of the things I love most about Greater Manchester – our music and our NHS – and the campaign reflects our commitment to continuing to make this a great place to start your career, or to come and work as a nurse, as we build a health and care workforce fit for the future.”
The University of Salford launched the Be a Greater Manchester Nurse campaign earlier this year in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, the universities of Manchester and Bolton, Greater Manchester trusts and care providers.
The musicians have generously given licensing rights to allow the film to be shared until June 2019.
