Don’t forget your cozzy. Hot Tub Cinema is in town

Let’s face it. We’ve all been there. Do I go to the pictures tonight or do I spend a couple of hours in a hot tub with some friends? Decisions, decisions. Well now there’s no need to choose because tonight and tomorrow you can do both at the same time. That’s because Hot Tub Cinema is in town.

Hot Tub Cinema does exactly what it says on the tin-you watch a popular film on the big screen from the comfort of a 40 degree hot tub, so no more uncomfortable cinema seats. Swimwear is essential and fancy dress- wigs, hats, arm-bands-optional. Each tub holds six people, so if there are fewer of you, you get the chance to make new friends, too.

There’s a fully licensed bar with waiter service to your tub (so the event is over 18’s only) and snacks and popcorn are also available. Each screening will be followed by a tub-hopping party.

Hot Tub Cinema has evolved from a private party with one hot tub eight years ago to a pop-up event which includes up to 30 hot tubs, two screens and a bespoke surround-sound system.

Showing tonight, appropriately enough, is Hot Tub Time Machine, whilst tomorrow’s film is Dirty Dancing. Maybe next time they’re in Manchester they’ll show Jaws. On the other hand, that might be just too terrifying.
