How to party with Tim Burgess and help Manchester’s homeless too

Pan-Asian Northern Quarter restaurant and bar Cottonopolis are no strangers to throwing a great party, and this upcoming Easter weekend looks set to be no different.

They’ve got Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess down to headline and bring the party vibes for you alongside a host of stellar local Manchester selectors, too. And that’s no April Fool.

The team behind the venue have joined forces with Bulleit Frontier Works and Art Battle Manchester to bring together a day of live fashion, art, film and music to raise funds for UK charity Action Hunger who work to install vending machines that provide free food and clothing in key locations around the UK and further afield, too.

These machines dispense water, fresh fruit, energy bars, crisps, chocolate and sandwiches as well as socks, sanitary products, antibacterial lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste combi packs, as well as books. Most of the food in these machines is provided by food redistribution organisations, with Action Hunger’s aim to simultaneously address two major social and environmental issues – homelessness and food waste.

Art Battle will be sending six artists to Cottonopolis to create live artwork based on their personal interpretations of the city and local community, showing the inspiration they take from Manchester and painting our city in a new light.

All of the artwork created at the event will go into an online auction to help raise money for Action Hunger. The aim is to hit £7,500, which would enable them to install a new vending machine to help homeless people right here in Manchester.

The event takes place on Sunday 1st April from 3 pm. Whilst the event will be free entry all day, there is a suggested £10 donation on the door which will also go to Action Hunger to help with this important cause. Sign up for free tickets.
