The Manchester Opera House is about to get a whole lot cuter as they search for the next canine sensation to star in the upcoming production of La Bohème on February 21st, 2025.
And they’re not just looking for any dog—they’re hunting for the four-legged beauty to give Brad Pitt a run for his money.
La Bohème at Opera House
Ellen Kent, the award-winning opera director and producer, is no stranger to starring animals, having worked with everything from a 6ft golden eagle to a beloved rescue dog that went on to find a forever home after a show.
Now, she’s on the lookout for a well-behaved dog with star quality to join the production of La Bohème—the beautiful and romantic opera that will come to life with stunning sets, snow effects, and, of course, a special canine appearance.
Ellen Kent
“I love working with animals,” says Kent. “The first time was 20 years ago when my pet cat, Holly Go-Lightly, was in one of my productions, and she was an instant hit. Since then, we’ve had horses, dogs, even goldfish. I’m sure there’s a doggie star out there just waiting for their moment in the limelight.”
Could your dog be the one? The role requires a medium to small dog that can be well-behaved on stage, with the owner also taking part in the show to look after their pooch. If you think your dog has the potential to steal the show, you’ll need to send in a photo, along with details such as their breed, height, weight, age, and name, to Ellen Kent at [email protected].
And don’t forget to include your contact information—who knows, you might be calling the shots on the next canine Brad Pitt!
Is your dog the next big superstar?
If your pup is chosen, they’ll make their debut alongside international soloists, a highly praised chorus, and a full orchestra in an opera that features stunning traditional staging and costumes, all set to transport you to a romantic Bohemian world—snow effects included.
So, if your dog has that special something, it might just be their time to shine in the spotlight. After all, who wouldn’t want to see their pet playing a star role in one of the most romantic operas ever written?
Ready to make your dog a star? Send in those photos today and watch your pooch transform into the next big thing in opera.
