The Stalybridge community is in mourning after the heartbreaking loss of Jack Derbyshire, a devoted father, fiancé, and friend, who tragically collapsed and passed away following a football match.

At just 27 years old, Jack’s life was cut short, leaving a void that words struggle to fill.

Jack’s fiancée, Charlotte, and their three-year-old daughter, Lyla, are now grappling with an unimaginable loss.

Known for his warm spirit and love for football, Jack’s passing has sent shockwaves through the lives of all who knew him, from his teammates and coworkers to the family and friends who cherished him most.

In response to this tragedy, Charlotte’s sister, Shannon Hulme, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide vital support during this devastating time.

The fundraiser has become a rallying point for those who wish to honour Jack’s memory and help ensure his family can grieve without the added strain of financial concerns.

Shannon shared her thoughts on the fundraiser: “My sister has received the most devastating news imaginable. Jack, her fiancé and the love of her life, passed away suddenly after playing a game of football. His loss has left an irreplaceable void, especially for their daughter Lyla, who has lost her beloved daddy.

“My goal is to help Charlotte take the time she needs to grieve without the added stress of financial worries. This fundraiser is about giving her the space to heal and be there for Lyla during this incredibly difficult time.”

Jack was living with atrial fibrillation—an irregular and fast heartbeat—alongside dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that enlarges and weakens the heart.

He was awaiting the fitting of an internal defibrillator but still enjoyed playing a few minutes of football in the six-a-side league he helped organise.

The tragedy unfolded last Monday after a match at Tameside Stadium, home to Curzon Ashton FC. Jack had returned to his car after the game but collapsed.

His friends discovered him and immediately called for help, performing CPR until emergency services arrived. Sadly, their efforts could not save him.

Jack’s sudden passing has left a ripple of grief in the local community, where he was well-loved. A devoted Manchester City fan, Jack worked as assistant manager at McDonald’s in Denton, alongside his brother Tom.

He lived in Stalybridge with Charlotte and Lyla, where he was known for his warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family.

The fundraiser is not only a way to alleviate Charlotte’s financial burdens but also a tribute to Jack’s memory, highlighting the support of a community united in love and compassion during such a difficult time.
