Could one of the biggest towers in the UK be heading to Salford?

The company has officially submitted plans to demolish the existing buildings at Riverside Retail Park in Ordsall, with the vision of constructing a monumental tower that would stand as the country’s third tallest structure.

According to records from the Land Registry, Imco Holdings currently owns the site where Riverside Retail Park is located.

Demolition of Grosvenor Casino, McDonald’s, and KFC

The planning documents reveal the involvement of Forshaw Land and Property, a renowned developer, in the demolition of the Grosvenor Casino, McDonald’s, and KFC.

As part of the grand redevelopment scheme, Forshaw Land and Property is also working on the construction of Pavillion Wharf, an impressive residential complex featuring 160 apartments.

In the planning application for this development, an outline has been provided that showcases the potential transformation of Riverside Retail Park.

Alongside Pavillion Wharf, the plans suggest the construction of an additional four blocks, ranging from nine to 25 storeys, in the area currently occupied by the casino and two fast-food restaurants.

The detailed masterplan for the Riverside Retail Park redevelopment was previously drafted in 2017, offering a glimpse into the future vision for the site.

Cassidy + Ashton, a renowned architectural consultancy, has been enlisted to advise Imco Holdings on the demolition proposals and subsequent redevelopment.

Across the border in Manchester, Renaker is actively working on the delivery of River Gardens, a striking redevelopment project situated on the Trinity Islands site.

This ambitious scheme comprises four towers and an impressive total of 1,950 apartments, further adding to the city’s growing skyline.
