New interactive street art trail to run from Chorlton to Levenshulme

A new interactive street art trail is coming to Manchester next week, offering a fun, free day out for families.

Running from Chorlton to Levenshulme via the Fallowfield Loop, the Floop Alphabet Trail will encourage participants to find 36 letters and number murals, watch them animate via the augmented reality app Artivive, and fill in a trail map.

It’s a chance to spend a day cycling or walking along the scenic Fallowfield Loop, collecting letters, and watching them come to life.

Launching on Monday, the Floop Alphabet Trail starts at St Werburgh’s Road tram stop in Chorlton and ends at the newly renovated community led Station South Cycle Cafe in Levenshulme.

At the finish, Station South has offered a 15% discount on food and drink in April to anyone who can show a completed trail map.

Immersed in nature and the local art scene, the trail is a self-funded project initiated by Manchester based mural painter and graphic designer Oskar with a K and digital designer Will Albin-Clark.

Oskar began creating large-scale work in his early teens as a graffiti writer. Fifteen years on, his passion for producing public art has blossomed into a full-time creative career.

“Will and I wanted to create a project that would get people engaging with the artwork on the Fallowfield Loop in a new way, and we hope an augmented reality street art trail will offer this!” says Oskar, who describes his work as ‘graphic design unhindered by scale’.

“It’s a totally self-funded project for the love of it, we’re just really keen for people to get a chance to walk in nature and have a look at some artwork.”

The Floop Alphabet Trail launches on Monday 11th April, starting at St Werburgh’s Road tram stop in Chorlton. Head to oskarwithak.com/trail from 9am on April 11th to download the printable trail map.
