Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas if it wasn’t for those festive classics we all know and love. Or maybe just know.

But nothing says Christmas quite like watching Love Actually when your extended family come to visit while arguing over who gets the last purple one in that box of Quality Street.

So rather than overloading on chocolate and staying home to watch your favourite festive films, a pop-up cinema is coming to Manchester to add something different to your Xmas to-do list. And it’s much more than just a film screening.

Opening next month, the Magical Christmas Movie Experience is heading to Mayfield,

showcasing some of the best loved Christmas movies of all time and some new additions, transforming it into a magical kingdom for the occasion.

Guests will enter through a secret wardrobe and explore an enchanted forest packed full of festive surprises for all the family, with screenings taking place under cover of Mayfield’s three railway arches. Because nothing says Christmas quite like sitting under a railway arch.

The programme includes timeless classics Love Actually, Home Alone, Elf and many other festive favourites with with special singalong versions of the recent smash hit The Greatest Showman bringing stilt walkers, fire breathers and a fantastic choir offering a one-of-a- kind, fully immersive experience.

Giant bean bags and blankets will be available at all events, so you can get nice and cosy under the arches, with all blankets being donated to the homeless after the final screening on 16th December.

There will also be plenty of food offerings at the festive shindig with some of Manchester’s most popular food vendors set to play a part in the holiday fun, alongside a fully stocked bar offering exclusive Christmas cocktails and mulled wine.

And there will be live music and dancers throughout the venue to make sure it’s a truly magical experience.

“Last Christmas Love Actually appeared in the same location – that was huge and really well received,” says event organiser Steven Matthews.

“This is something new for Manchester – it’s the first experience of its kind with an enchanted forest and everyone’s favourite festive flicks. Audiences can expect loads of surprises and a totally unique experience”.

Doors to the enchanted forest and food court open at 6pm on Thursdays, 5pm on Fridays and from 12pm at weekends. Running over four long weekends from November 23rd to December 16th, tickets for all the films start from £14.99.
