A new school opened recently on First Street. It’s open to everyone and it’s one school you’ll definitely want to go to.

School for Scandal is a new Manchester restaurant and bar that’s making waves with its menus offering eclectic flavours and healthy options alongside naughtier dishes and drinks.

Since it opened last month, it’s been serving up an eclectic ‘melting pot’ menu containing flavoursome dishes like roasted sea bass, steak frites and ‘Avocado or Bust’, a healthy roast beetroot and avocado salad.

All three dishes are available on the ‘Pre-School’ menu each evening, a fabulous pre-theatre menu that costs just £16.50 for three courses, available from 4-7pm Monday to Friday. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, there’s a glass of house wine included in the price, proving that drinking on a school night doesn’t have to break the bank.

There are no bland plates here, just exciting flavours created with quality and flair. Perfect for culture vultures before they take the short walk to Bridgewater Hall or The Palace Theatre.

If you thought the worst thing about going to school was detention, think again. School for Scandal has turned it into the time of day you’ll look forward to most.

‘DE-TEN-TION’ is from 5-7pm, Monday to Friday, when you can choose from a special menu of ten cocktails at just £5 each

Drinks include the bourbon-fuelled Bartender & The Thief, the Emmeline Pankthirst with amaretto and gin tendencies, and the excellently devised Oprah Ginfrey, with Greenhall’s gin, rhubarb, passionfruit and citrus.

Throw in classics such as Aperol Spritz, margaritas, classic daiquiris and cosmopolitans and you’re out of excuses.

The wider cocktail menu has uniquely created mixes as well as classic variations to choose from. School for Scandal doesn’t hide from its bartending duties, serving all the usual classic drinks you’d want as well as its own unique styles and takes on your after-hours refreshments.

If you’re still thirsty after all this, try the Wet Lunch Break cocktail menu – six classic movie-themed cocktails including the American Pie, Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink.

See you in class.
