The worker bee has been a symbol of Manchester since the 19th century, but this year it’s become particularly important as a symbol of the city’s community spirit and resilience.
We’ve seen it pop up in lots of ways, with everything from tattoos and beautiful artwork, to unique jewellery and clothing. There’s even a bee hotel.
Now Manchester Arndale is giving away exclusive Christmas bee baubles in a festive-themed social media initiative.
The gold bauble features a glitter bee design and comes in a special display box to keep in the loft with your Christmas tree for years to come.
Inspired by the Manchester worker bee symbol, the shopping centre has created 2,000 of the limited edition baubles and is giving them away on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December – with 1,000 on offer each day.
All you need to do to get your hands on one of the baubles home is snap a picture of the centre’s brand new 25ft Christmas tree – or a selfie in front of it – share it on social media using the hashtag #ARNDALEXMASBUZZ, and show your post to the team at the bauble collection point on the upper mall near Next.

The Christmas tree is located just outside the entrance on Corporation Street, overlooking Exchange Square. It’s part of Manchester Arndale’s brand new golden decorations scheme for 2017, which is inspired by the Manchester worker bee and features honeycomb-style decorations across the malls.
