The Life Centre North is hosting its annual Yogathon event on 21st June, offering FREE yoga and meditation classes to all throughout the day.

Classes for all levels will be available, so whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner – there’s no excuses.

There’s even a class for people who don’t do yoga. Sign me up!

The event, which celebrates International Yoga Day, is taking place in the Great Northern’s amphitheatre and neighbouring  bar and restaurant Impossible. So for all of you yoga-crazed Mancunians, it’s a chance to step out of the studio and back into nature. Well, sort of.

More than 200 people turned out for the Yogathon last year and the organisers are expecting more than double the number of yogis to be dusting off their mats this year.

Classes will run from 12.15pm through to 8.15pm with plenty of experts on hand to offer help and advice to all those taking part.

The event is in aid of the Manchester homeless support charity The Booth Centre, with one of the services users from the charity speaking at the Yogathon to share their story and raise awareness of homelessness.

Donations to the charity on the day of the event are encouraged but not compulsory.

“At The Life Centre, we are passionate about increasing awareness of yoga’s positive impact on both the mind and body, and we hope this event will give people the opportunity to experience the benefits first hand,” said Life Centre North business manager, Kirsty Hogarth.

“We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day – whether that’s taking part in a session or coming to watch the action and soak up the community atmosphere. What better way to spend the summer solstice than at a relaxed and welcoming community event in the heart of Manchester.”

Mats will be available throughout the day, but yogis with their own are encouraged to bring them along. And for those of you heading down on your lunch breaks, refreshments and items to freshen up with will also be on hand, so you don’t have to worry about going back to the office all sweaty and red-faced.
