If you’ve not yet managed to feast at the alter of meat – Red’s True Barbecue on Albert Square – luck may be at hand, for the angels of plenty have heard your prayers and have conjured a takeout treat to see you through the next few weeks of the World Cup, and beyond. A free bottle of Corona with each BBQ Box order.

If you need an intro to this high octane, neon-fuelled Church of Barbecue, Red’s is an authentic US smokehouse, celebrating gloriously tasty low and slow cooked meat from across the southern states of America. Moist Texas beef brisket and peppery hot link sausage, Memphis-style St Louis and Baby back ribs, huge juicy Beef Long ribs and tender smoked chicken tempt even the most agnostic of food lovers. The restaurant’s much-hyped launch back in February has gripped Manchester by the stomach, and now regularly sees more than 20,000 believers enter the pearly gates each month to feast.

To spread its gospel, Red’s has now launched Takeout, meaning you can jump the notoriously busy ‘cue joint’s wait list and feast like kings in the comfort of your own home. The menu features all the meaty favourites and divine sides, like Pit beans and Hush Puppies, plus a raft of craft beers and Red’s famous desserts, including Mississippi Mud Browine and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake – famous because not many people make it that far.

To make it a done deal, Red’s let the I Love Manchester team know that for the next few weeks during the World Cup you can worship any of its five BBQ boxes, plus sides, and get a free bottle of Corona to wash it all down.

The question is, are you a believer yet?
