Manchester’s world-famous Christmas Markets are back again soon and once again Manchester City Council are looking for members of the public to get involved with the festive fun and make sure the six week event goes without a hitch.

They are looking for yuletide-loving elves to direct visitors around the award-winning attraction and spread some Christmas cheer.

This year’s markets will run from Thursday 10 November until Tuesday 20 December and volunteers are needed to help during the busy festive weekends – each Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting on Friday 18 November.

The Manchester elf volunteers will be located across the 10 Christmas Market sites, helping to direct shoppers and visitors to the different market areas, as well as being on hand to answer any general questions.

By joining the Christmas Markets Volunteer Team you’ll be part of an exciting event and a unique Manchester atmosphere, gaining volunteer experience at one of the city’s biggest and most-loved events.

Volunteers will also receive a coveted, limited edition, Manchester Christmas Market mug and two shining stars of the Manchester elf volunteers will also be invited for tea with the Lord Mayor.

Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester’s Christmas spokesperson, said: “What else can we call our volunteers other than our Manchester Christmas elves? They will be on-hand across each of the market sites helping visitors and spreading festive spirit.

“You might have noticed that the city centre is undergoing some major works at the moment, but that won’t stop the Christmas Markets returning bigger and better than ever before.

“And that’s where our volunteers come in – making sure visitors know the best way to see each of the Christmas Market sites and make the best of their time in the city.”

If you’re interested in getting involved as part of the Christmas Market Volunteer Team, please contact coordinator Helen Freeborough. All volunteers will attend a briefing session prior to volunteering.
