August Bank Holiday will see Velvet Hotel elevate its boutique status even further as they relaunch 17 new suites following a stunning expansion into No.3 Canal Street.

The luxury rooms will open just in time for Manchester Pride Weekend, as guests are invited to stay at Velvet Hotel’s new ‘Cosy King’ and ‘Deluxe King’ rooms and its ‘Signature Suites’ and the ‘Signature Velvet Suite’. The expansion is also accompanied by the development of a beautiful new reception area.

Located in the heart of Manchester’s Canal Street and housed in a historic former velvet factory, the hotel has transformed the building into four floors of unique havens. Each of the stunning 27 bedrooms and ten suites are individually designed to an exceptionally high four-star deluxe standard, providing the utmost comfort to all who stay.

The Signature Penthouse Suite is ‘indulgence at its finest’ and offers large, divided spaces for sleeping and living. Boasting over 40 square metres of ‘high-end luxury’, this duplex room is perfect for entertaining and features a private bar complete with high-top seating on the first level and an en-suite bed deck on the second.

Exposed brickwork is offset against walls of royal blue, with sophisticated finishes that complement its original character, such as revealing the original high vaulted ceiling with a careful acknowledgement of Manchester’s time gone by.

Meanwhile, the Signature Velvet Suite is a sage green sanctuary that provides a sprinkling of sumptuousness in the city, with the design concept across the entire hotel taking inspiration from the site’s history – a factory warehouse producing velvet in the epicentre of the industrial revolution.

The exquisite interior design is led by Eris Koutsoudakis and Maria Kachramanoglou of Meraki Design, whose vision was to ensure that moody dark hues reference the original commercial heritage of the building, as plush velvet furnishings are accentuated in soft, atmospheric lighting. Rooms are cosy, with luxurious textures and finishes, while signature black bedside tables are shaped like cotton reels in a playful nod to the past.

Along with the Signature Velvet Suite, the new bedrooms and suites are set to feature generous space and super king-size beds, smart 65″ televisions, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, black-out blinds and ambient lighting systems to create the perfect setting for your mood. The large bathrooms will boast a walk-in rainfall shower, a freestanding bath and underfloor heating.

All of Velvet’s suites are filled with unique luxury and character, offering deeply personal touches throughout. Beds are dressed in quality, crisp white linens, and the high-end bathroom suites are complete with luxury L’Occitane bath amenities and fluffy bathrobes.

A much-loved Manchester destination, detailing throughout the hotel has been carefully considered by local design and build specialists, Tick Interiors.

Velvet Manchester is also home to the Village Brasserie, an all-day dining venue. Poised as the neighbourhood’s artistic outpost, guests are invited to enjoy cocktails and contemporary food. With offers such as ‘Steak Night Wednesdays’ and the daily lunch menu, it is a place for everyone.

To celebrate the relaunch, Velvet Hotel is offering a special ‘Stay For Free’ getaway, where guests are invited to book their stay and receive the total amount of the booking fee as credit to be used on food and drink at both Velvet Bar and Village Brasserie.

“The success of Velvet demonstrated that we needed more accommodation, with occupancy above 90% yearly,” said Mr Kim Eivind Krohn, owner of KRO Hospitality.

“When the opportunity arose to purchase the freehold of the neighbouring no3 Canal Street, we knew this would be the perfect way to expand and enhance Velvet Hotel, the guest experience and bring the former office building back to life.”
