It’s official. Manchester is the the greatest sporting city in the country. We’ve got two of the top football clubs, the National Velodrome, state-of-the-art swimming venues, Lancashire County Cricket Club, and Manchester Storm.
You may not associate Manchester with golf, but there are dozens of golf courses in every little green corner inside the M60 from Worsley to Tameside and in between.
But a game of golf can be ruined by the weather. This is where The Green Sports Bar comes in.
The Green is an entertainment venue with a difference. There are eight adaptable booths which transform into indoor golf arenas, giving you the chance to play at Pebble Beach, St Andrews and over 50 other world-class PGA courses without the wind, rain or wildlife ruining your fairway drive.
There’s no restriction on skill level. Anybody can enjoy the golf simulators, and from only £20 per booth per hour you can play all day without paying golf club prices.
And you can play on the same golf simulator as 2017 champion Jordan Spieth, which means you can hone your skills like the best.
The Green isn’t just for golf fans. There are also karaoke, Xbox, pool, fussball, and multi-sports booths where you can practise your free kicks or penalties, try your hand as an American football quarterback, pitch a baseball, try a slap shot at hockey and much more.
Booths start from £10 per hour depending on the activity. If you buy a qualifying drink you can play Xbox for free for 30 minutes (subject to availability).
The booths can be turned into private viewing screens showing all the big football matches so you can grab a group of friends, book a booth and enjoy the match in luxury with drinks and snacks.
Because, as everyone knows, watching sport can make you hungry and thirsty. The Green has you covered with a great array of pizza and hot dog toppings, sandwiches and not just one but nine different burgers to work your way through, including the Italian, the Thunderbird (a chicken variation), and the Mexicano (for something that little bit spicy).
The mightiest is the Godzilla filled with three ¼lb burger patties, salad, emmental cheese, bacon and onion rings. And there’s a fully stocked bar, too.
All of which makes The Green a great place for an alternative night out. Start with the golf, stay for the food and football, continue with the drinks.
With so many more options to get down and have fun, your Christmas party will never be the same once you’ve played golf and sung karaoke on the same night. Party packages start from £10 per person.
