Seven Brothers Brewery has brewed up something special to help save the iconic Salford Lads Club from closure.
With the future of the iconic Salford Lads Club in jeopardy, this local brewery has stepped up to the plate, launching a helles lager with £1.50 from each can sold being dedicated to help save the historic club.
Salford Lads Club Helles Lager
The Salford Lads Club is no ordinary institution. For 120 years, it has been a community gathering place, nurturing young hearts and minds, and offering a safe haven for generations of Salford’s youth.
It’s a place that means a lot to Seven Brothers Brewery. Not only does it hold a rich community heritage, but it’s also part of their family’s story. Their father, Eric, and brother, Kit—also known as Brother Number Six—are both former members, weaving their family history into the club’s legacy.
This helles lager is a labour of love, brewed in collaboration with the Lads Club to commemorate its milestone anniversary and support its ongoing mission.

And it’s not the first time brewing has been intertwined with the club’s history.
Back in 1903, brothers James and William Grimble Groves, founders of the original Groves and Whitnall Brewery on Regent Road, helped establish the club, solidifying its deep-rooted connections to the brewing world.
Jess Eckersley’s artwork
The can itself is a work of art, featuring designs by Jess Eckersley, a student at Pendleton College and granddaughter of Archie Swift, a club member for a remarkable 76 years.
Archie’s spirit lives on in Jess, who volunteers at the club, continuing her grandfather’s legacy.
Her artwork captures the spirit of the club’s past and present, a beautiful homage to a place that has meant so much to so many.
With every 330ml can purchased, £1.50 goes directly to the club, helping it continue its mission and preserve its legacy. This 4.6% ABV vegan helles lager is available only in limited quantities, making each sip a celebration of history, community, and shared memories.
Raise a can, support a cause, and help save the Salford Lads Club. Cheers to a brighter future, one can at a time.
