Rosso is launching a revised a la carte menu that promises some old favourites alongside new dishes lovingly devised by Head Chef, Steve Hildebrandt and his team.

The menu has been constructed, so says the blurb, by a collection of dishes inspired by Rosso’s passion for creative, authentic Italian food, but featuring a traditional British influence as new ingredients and techniques punctuate this reinvented menu.

Slow cooked pigs cheeks wrapped in parma ham and served with prunes and black treacle are a case in point – finely sourced British food fused with Italian signature ingredients.

Other earthy British influences can be seen in menu additions like the fresh beetroot soup and the new cornfed British chicken dishes.

Rosso’s emphasis on fresh fish continues, as the new menu sees fresh live lobster delivered to the restaurant six days week, alongside a medley of other fish and seafood, much of it brought direct from New Smithfield Market – this is a welcome addition.

As ever, all the sauces, pasta, gnocchi and stocks are handmade at the restaurant – Steve’s new mixed game ragu features four different types of game and is six hours in the making!

Very traditional new Italian dishes make up the perfect menu with the new Strozzapretti et Ragu – a rustic Italian creation translated as ‘Strangled Priest’. Similarly, the Bistecca alla Fiorentina – prime teabone steak grilled with garlic butter, served with vine ripened tomatoes, parmesan shavings, field mushrooms and rocket – provides a taste of the traditional tuscan trattoria.

We’ll be going to try it out and for food lovers out there, the new menu is now live.
