‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ proudly takes the number one position, while ‘Definitely Maybe’ secured second place.

In celebration of this remarkable achievement, Oasis will unveil a brand-new lyric video for ‘Listen Up,’ a hidden gem from their catalogue, exclusively on the National Album Day website for a 24-hour viewing marathon, commencing October 14, 2023, at 10 AM.

National Album Day Showcases Oasis Triumph

To commemorate this milestone, Steve Wright will host a special countdown of the top 40 most-streamed albums from the 1990s on his BBC Radio 2 show.

Noel and Liam Gallagher will share their reflections on the significance of Oasis holding the top two spots.

The radio station will dedicate the day to celebrating National Album Day, playing 90s tracks and featuring music from exclusive National Album Day record releases.

Noel Gallagher expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled, but I wouldn’t say I was that surprised that ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ has been voted the most streamed album of the 90s – I still do have faith in the taste of people in this country.

“I mean if you’ve got ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ on an album, you’re going to be all right, aren’t you?”

A spokesperson for National Album Day commented, “It’s no surprise that ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ and ‘Definitely Maybe’ are the two most streamed albums of the 1990s.

“Oasis’ music was era-defining, and it remains as relevant and contemporary as ever.”

Rediscovering Oasis’ Classic B-Side ‘Listen Up’

Originally released in 1994 as the B-side to ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol,’ ‘Listen Up’ has become one of Oasis’ most popular B-sides.

Noel Gallagher shared his thoughts about this track, saying, “I like the line, ‘I don’t believe in magic because life is automatic.’ I think it means something but I’m not quite sure what… I don’t really sit and write B-sides, I just write songs in my spare time.”

On November 3rd, Big Brother Recordings Ltd will release limited-edition collector’s formats to celebrate the silver anniversary of ‘The Masterplan,’ including CD, cream cassette, and limited-edition double vinyl formats featuring remastered audio, taken from the ‘Chasing The Sun’ reissues.

The Masterplan: A Collection of B-Sides

‘The Masterplan’ is an extraordinary collection of B-sides originally featured on singles from Oasis’ first three albums. Many of these tracks have become as cherished as the band’s biggest hits from that era.

The album includes landmark Oasis songs such as ‘Acquiesce,’ ‘Half The World Away,’ and the epic title track, which Noel Gallagher has often described as one of the best songs he has ever written.

Originally released in 1998, ‘The Masterplan’ charted at No.2 in the UK Official Album Chart and went on to be certified triple platinum, selling over three million copies worldwide. Pre-order formats and listen to the album here
