Popular Northern Quarter bars Walrus and Tusk are closing on Sunday 4th October for a £500,000 refurbishment but not before one final party on Saturday 3rd October.
Both bars are hugely popular on the Northern Quarter bar scene. Walrus was one of the first cocktail bars to open on High Street in 2007, and the first Northern Quarter bar for owners MAD Ltd. It has established itself as a top party venue, with a long cocktail list and a rotation of popular DJs every weekend. Alter ego Tusk arrived on the scene in 2012 and has become well known for its great cocktails made with homemade infusions.
“…casual dining

Owners MAD Ltd have decided that now is the time for a fresh new look for both bars, with new food and drink menus for casual dining as well as drinking.
Interior design company No Chintz are leading the re-design, which will see both bars completely stripped out and refitted to include new seating, flooring, lighting and internal décor.
Jonathan Hawkins, Operations Director says, “We are very excited about this refurbishment, we’ve invested a lot of time and money into creating two amazing, but very different spaces for the Northern Quarter food and drink scene.
Walrus was our first Northern Quarter site and we’re extremely passionate about it. We can’t wait to reveal both bars’ fresh new looks at our launch party on the 22ndOctober.”
MAD Group’s award-winning executive head chef Chris Byron, who also designed the new menu at Rosylee and Infamous Diner, has created the food menu, which will be available at both venues.
The focus is on good quality, casual dining with everything from build your own board of tasty nibbles to sliders and pizzas – and prices start from just £2.95. The huge choice of options will include honey and mustard glazed chipolatas, nachos, mozzarella and tomato skewers, BBQ chicken wings, buttermilk chicken and pulled pork and apple chutney – to name but a few.
The pizza menu features a great range of tasty toppings from the classic Americana with smoked cheese, BBQ sauce and pepperoni to the A.D.B with bacon, chipolatas, egg, mushroom, cherry tomatoes and rocket. Prices start from just £6.95, making the new menu very affordable.
Both Walrus and Tusk will re-launch with a bang on Thursday 22nd October with a relaunch party starting at 6pm with cocktails and canapés and DJ Gareth Brooks. They will be open for soft launch from Thursday October 15th.
