Typical. You wait ages for a dog walking and boarding service then two come along.

Last month, Housemydog launched in Manchester. Now, another app which brings together dog owners and dog lovers has arrived.

Rover.com is the biggest and most trusted platform for dog walking, boarding and sitting in the USA. Its launch in Manchester means that it is easier than ever for dog owners to find reliable people to look after their pooch.

And it’s not just a walking and boarding service. They offer doggy day care, too.

Having your pet cared for, especially during working week is an important consideration. But how do you go about picking a trustworthy person to do it?

Rover.com has it sorted. Simply download the app, register and start browsing potential sitter and walker profiles.

And it’s not just about spoiling pets, but keeping them safe, too.

Each potential sitter faces a stringent sign-up process and has to pass a safety check and test before being assessed.

Just one in five dog sitter/walker applicants meets Rover’s high standards to join, so if you’re a dog owner you can expect the best of the best.

Owners can add and browse reviews of sitters, ensuring they get the right person looking after their four-legged friend.

And they can meet sitters free of charge before they making a booking, so they can be safe in the knowledge that their dog will be well looked after.

There’s even a kind of canine CCTV built-in. When your pet is taken for a walk by one of the registered sitters, the Rover Card feature allows owners to track the route their dog has taken with a GPS map. Plus there’s the option of a full slideshow of photos to see what they’ve been up to during the day.

There are more short-term doggy daycare and dog walking options for when owners are at work and away for longer periods of time. In these cases, dog boarding, house sitting, and drop-in visits are also available.

Once signed up, sitters and walkers can easily set their own price and availability.

Available on iOS and Android, the app is free to download for owners and sitters. Its ease of use and range of options is sure to have tails wagging.
