In the face of a cancer diagnosis, individuals often grapple not only with the physical toll of treatment but also the emotional challenges that accompany it.

Look Good Feel Better, a Cancer Charity based in Manchester is making a significant impact by providing free workshops beyond conventional medical care.

These workshops, held virtually and in Cancer Care Centres and Hospitals across the country, are tailored to support women, men, and young adults as they navigate the complexities of cancer treatment.

Look Good Feel Better recognises the diverse needs of cancer patients and tailors its workshops to cater to women, men, and young adults.

Led by trained volunteers from the beauty and health industries, these workshops offer a comprehensive range of practical advice.

From addressing changes to the skin, eyebrows, eyelashes, hair, and nails to enhancing body confidence, the charity ensures that participants receive guidance on both the visible and invisible aspects of their journey.

What sets Look Good Feel Better apart is its reliance on trained volunteers from the beauty industry.

These professionals bring their expertise to the workshops, providing valuable insights into skincare, makeup application, and grooming techniques.

The charity’s commitment to empowering individuals to look and feel their best shines through as every workshop attendee receives a bag of full-size skincare and grooming products.

Beyond the realm of beauty, Look Good Feel Better recognises the importance of addressing the holistic well-being of cancer patients.

Trained volunteers from the health industry lead workshops focused on well-being, covering meditation, breath-work, and gentle exercise.

These sessions aim to reduce feelings of isolation and anxiety, offering participants tools for coping with the emotional challenges of their cancer journey.

How Look Good Feel Better Helps

We spoke to Amanda H, who used the services about what she experienced at Look Good Feel Better.

She said:  “I want to say that the skincare and make-up workshop was inspirational.

“I attended a workshop which a man called Trevor was hosting. He welcomed me and about 10 others.

“Our make-up and skincare products were laid out in front of us, and Trevor explained what we were going to do, including cleansing and hydrating our skin.

“I was feeling vulnerable with a cotton hat over my bald head, when I looked around there were women that were at all different stages.

“As time went by, I just removed my hat and people started to comment, saying how I can work it.

“Then another lady also took her wig off and a lady with long whispy nstrands of hair asked me “What shall I do?” I said I had cut mine off as thin, whispy strands made you look unwell.

“Trevor was so reassuring, cleansing after each demo and keeping a distance when possible.

“This was so important to us all! Trevor showed us how to apply make-up to create an illusion of eye lashes and eyebrows, which was fantastic.

“He explained everything and joked with us, and the group came alive and we were all giving each other advice and telling our stories. I came out of the Look Good Feel Better workshop feeling and looking refreshed in so many ways, I have recommended this to so many people as it’s the best therapy I have had on my journey.

“Being with people on the same journey who understand each other so much better is so helpful, I didn’t feel alone when I left.”

A Gift Beyond the Workshop: Full-Size Skincare and Grooming Products

Look Good Feel Better doesn’t stop at offering advice during workshops; it extends its support by providing each attendee with a bag of full-size skincare and grooming products.

This thoughtful gesture goes beyond the session, allowing participants to continue their self-care routines at home.
