More than 150 trainer fans camped outside menswear shop Oi Polloi in the Northern Quarter since 6.30am on FRIDAY for the chance to buy limited edition ‘Ardwick Adidas’ design.

Just 200 pairs of the limited edition green suede shoes went on sale for £79.99 from 8am this morning – with customers allowed in five at a time to try on and buy the shoes on a first-come-first-served basis.

But trainer fans have been queuing since 6.30am on FRIDAY for a chance to get their hands on a pair of the shoes.

Security staff and bouncers were also hired to make sure no-one jumps the queue when the doors opened.

The trainers, only 500 pairs of which have been made, were designed by Oi Polloi owner Nigel Lawson in association with Adidas.

The design was inspired by an even rarer pair of Adidas California shoes he also owns, with the name Ardwick Green chosen to reflect the colour.
