The cobbles of Coronation Street offer more to the realm of fashion than piles of knickers sewn at Underworld. Michelle Keegan, who was born in Stockport and exited Corrie in a leap of faith earlier this year, has been rustling up marvellous collections for Lipsy London.

The brand, which prides itself on dressing women who lean towards clean cut, neutral styles for intensely glamorous nights out, gravitated naturally towards Michelle, whose own personal style mirrors this love of feminine elegance.

Her first collection for the well-loved high street brand immediately showed the aptness of recruiting Michelle as brand ambassador, who had worn dresses by the brand during her time on Coronation Street.

Pieces ranged from a white tuxedo set to a brown mac, which above all else were incredibly versatile. These were pieces that any woman could wear from the office to after-work drinks with nothing more than a slick of lipstick and a change of shoe.

The second, Pre-Fall collection, which dropped on August 13, encapsulates transitional dressing and is a masterclass in the move from summer to autumn for glamorous girls. Though this collection primarily utilises a neutral palette, there are some pops of red in the form of a fabulous asymmetric jumpsuit and a gorgeous lace cami dress.

Other than these showstoppers, Michelle’s collection remains sober and classic, frequently playing with lace inserts, body con, PU and even racer front dresses to stamp individuality onto staple wardrobe pieces.

Though both collections focus heavily on the strength to be found in eveningwear, autumn’s creeping gusts of wind require the odd cover-up piece. Michelle caters, offering puffer and parka jackets with faux fur details that will be inevitable hits, as well as a spot-on-trend black fringe kimono.
