King Street Townhouse have recently opened up memberships for their beautiful gym and spa, and we were lucky to head down to Booth Street to check out the facilities.

They host a range of spa treatments including full body massages, facials, hot stone treatments and much much more.

You can have a peek at their full treatment options here.

The spa is situated next to the gorgeous hotel, famed for their beautiful infinity pool, cinema room, fine wine cellar and outstanding views over Manchester.

And more marvels await downstairs at the spa.

The unique city spa features four treatment rooms, thermal suite, eucalyptus steam room, ice fountain and heated loungers.

The spa lounge also serves light, nutritious refreshments which complement the overall health kick vibe of the place.

Designed to bring an ‘elevated fitness and wellbeing experience’, the beautiful Grade II Listed Italian renaissance building hides the spa downstairs, opening out into a stunning welcoming room where I was presented with a peppermint tea and a shot of avocado, spinach, apple, lime and peanut butter smoothie to kick things off.

Soft ambient music creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can just drift away.

The spa is home to the Himalayan Salt cave, one of a kind in the north of England.

We spoke to Charlie, who works at the spa about the salt cave.

She said: “The Himalayan Salt cave is the only of its kind in the North of England, so it’s quite special.

“It’s great for boosting your immune system.

“The room is made of salt bricks, and the shower head disperses salt spray which you breathe in. It’s great for inhaling and it really does help with your lungs and sinuses.”

After a wonderful massage and facial using ESPA oils,  I headed into the thermal area with the sauna, steam room, and Himalayan salt cave to take in what they have to offer.

The design of the place is absolutely beautiful, it feels like stepping into a futuristic sci fi film.

The steam room and sauna are beautiful, tranquil places where you can forget all of the day to day problems.

Not only is the salt cave one of a kind, but the spa is also the first of its kind to use Perricone MD treatments.

Charlie continued: “We are unique in that we are the first spa in the UK to use Perricone MD personalised treatments, which includes diet treatments too.

“We completely tailor your programme to you, and help you incorporate other lifestyle elements into the treatment.

“We also offer a huge range of massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing too.”

And that’s not all, as some of the treatments include different aspects.

“Some of our body treatments include visualisation and meditation, so it’s not just massage.

“We also use hot stones to stimulate different parts of the body and make you feel like a new person.”

The King Street townhouse do different packages to tailor a completely unique experience.

Charlie continued: “We do packages that include meals with champagne, use of our thermal facilities, we have other packages with cakes and sweet treats too.

“We have two course and three course lunches too.

“We are the ultimate luxury experience hidden away in the heart of the city. It’s nice to just come here and relax with no idea about what’s going on around us.

“The food, the thermal treatments, the massages and facials, the treatments is a whole experience right in the heart of the hustle and bustle.

“We also have hotel and spa packages where people can stay in the beautiful hotel next door, and enjoy the spa in the daytime – it’s an all round brilliant experience and not to be missed!”

Upstairs, the gym is packed to the rafters with some of the most up to date equipment you can get your hands on, with a gym bar where you can fulfill all your protein shake and nutritional needs.

The gym includes a cardio zone, functional zone, strength zone and free weights zone.

After all that hard work relaxing, you can treat yourself (as I happily obliged) to am Afternoon Tea at the Town House hotel.

They have just launched their festive afternoon tea selection.

If afternoon tea isn’t your thing, there is also a ‘High Tea’ for people with more of a savoury tooth.

I selected the traditional afternoon tea (£28), which was split into two parts.

Savoury: Turkey & sage stuffing sandwich on white bloomer, roastbeef horseradish mayonnaise & wild rocket wrap, egg mayonnaise & watercress on brown bloomer, smoked salmon lemon creme fraiche grapefruit mini bagel and whipper goat’s cheese, balsamic foccacia.

Sweet: Mulled winter berry macaron, double chocolate yule log, spices pear & almond tart, clementine and mascarpone cake, cranberry & nutmeg scone, jam & clotted cream.

All in all, absolutely gorgeous selection of cakes. The mulled winter berry macaron was sensational.

You have to book the afternoon tea 24 hours in advance, as all cakes and sandwiches are made fresh on the day.

All this set in the beautiful surroundings of their bar area, with delightful staff who make you feel at home – it makes  for a resoundingly enjoyable experience.

All in all, King Street Townhouse and spa represent the ultimate luxury experience.
